We received this e-mail on March 21, 2009:I found a "promotional only" record that has the signatures of people that worked at WJYL-fm 101. There is a bumper sticker on the cover with the call letters and "The Rhythm of the City" underneath with a stamped number 4637. This album was recorded in 1987 in England. The name of the album is "Loose Ends." Signatures on the album are R??? Miller; De Von; Dave 'Sure Shot' Schaefer; Phillip David N?? (7 to Midnight FM 101); Dunkin Darlene; Smiley (FM-101 Information); Greg C? or Prather (FM 101 Information); a name I can't make out; and Tim? Jherard? Song on Side 1 is "You Can't Stop The Rain" and Songs on Side 2 are also "You Can't Stop The Rain" with different playing times. When I went to look up WJYL I came accross this web site that asked if anyone had any information on WJYL or promotional material. Thought it was worth mentioning what I have. Is this record of any importance? I am just trying to get information on it. It might be of some importance to the people that signed it. Anybody familiar with any of these jocks?

Hi; Not familiar with the jocks. There used to be a popular song, back in the Jurassic Period.....ie. the disco era, it was by a group called "ERUPTION" and the song was "I can't stop the rain" so...I don't know if this is the same song or not, since you refer to "you can't stop the rain."
"I can't stop the rain" was available in two lengths, as well. A shorter version for radio, and a longer version for the dance floor in the disco.
"Just a thought...I might be out in the weeds...who knows.
Regards to all
Dan
BTW, my nephew is about to start his residency at a hospital in Lexington, in case any of you can recommend the "hot spots" ie. good restaurants, etc. I'll pass any info on to him.

John,
Speaking of WJYL, can you place the station's page on the list of Louisville stations? It seams to be missing out of what's listed.
Thanks, Robyn

Yes they were. Then they went CHR in 1983-84 before transitioning to Urban around 1986.

I seem to recall it being an acronym for Joy of Louisville...
