Interesting...
We are listening to some of WINN's final days before they switched to "Music of Your Life".
For some reason, I had thought that the format change happened in 1980. Guess I was wrong.
I don't believe that Wretched Richard stayed around too long after the format change and bolted for WAMZ.
I do know that WINN switched back to country in the summer of 1982 (maybe July). By early 1984, the country format was dumped and the station was sold. The call letters were changed to WLLV and have remained the same to this day.
One more question: Is the "Mason Dixon" mentioned in the airchecks the same person as "Mason Lee Dixon" of WAKY fame?

Yes, indeed. Mason Lee Dixon (David Bratcher) left WAKY in '72 for KXOK in St. Louis and returned to Louisville near the end of that decade to work WINN, WKLO (not sure if that is the correct order) and then back to WAKY in the '80s. There's only one other Mason Dixon that I know of and he is a jock in Tampa, Florida. He was given the name by WAKY's John W. (Dude) Walker, while working with Dude in Tennessee. Of course, we know where Dude got the name.
