It's so sad to hear about the tragic death of Larry Miller, who most recently spent over two decades at WRKA.
From this morning's C-J:
"A Louisville disc jockey died in a car accident near Versailles yesterday, according to radio station officials.
"Larry Miller worked for more than 20 years at Louisville’s 103.1 WRKA, most recently as assistant program manager and the afternoon disc jockey, said Todd Schumacher, vice president and general manager for Cox Radio stations in Louisville. Radio station officials were notified of the accident early this morning, he said.
"Miller, 50, was traveling south on Ky. 33 near Fords Mill Road just before 7 p.m. yesterday when his car left the road and became airborne, traveling about 34 feet before hitting several trees, a release from the Versailles Police Department said.
"The police have not identified the crash victim but WRKA officials released his identity this morning, soon after they were notified of Miller’s death. The accident is still under investigation, police said.
"The radio station dedicated its early morning drive show to Miller and listeners can send in notes about Miller today through the station’s Web site www.wrka.com, Schumacher said."
Larry and I exchanged several e-mails over the last two years. He worked at WAXU in Georgetown shortly after I did (the second time), and was a big fan of my Louisville tribute Websites. He contributed some of the content on the WRKA page here. I never met him, but heard him several times on WRKA. He was a brother in broadcasting who loved radio.
He will be missed by many.
