Just wondering if anyone remembers WHAS Radio's "Telescore 84" program on fall Saturdays around 1974 & 1975? The show ran from late afternoon (usually after a U.K. football game broadcast) up to the early evening. It consisted of two announcers (sorry, but I don't remember their names) not only giving scores of games - both final and in-progress - but also had persons call in to request the score of a game they were interested in. For calls, a person only had to name one of the teams playing (example - "Do you have the score of the Georgia game?") but the announcers had a system that enabled them to find the other team that was playing that team even if it wasn't mentioned by the caller and could quickly reply with the answer ("Yes. After three quarters, Georgia is leading Auburn, 27-7"). This was long before the use of computers and other quick-finding equipment and I've always wondered how they could provide the information so quickly to callers particularly when only one of the teams playing was given.
