Does anyone know who was on the air in the afternoon slot when Gary Burbank left whas? How long was Jeff Douglas on in the afternoon? Was the time slot still 3-7 PM? What actually happened to Jeff? Final question: Is there any Tv coverage of the 74 tornado, and did the screen play about the super outbreak ever make it to the screen? I'd love to watch it.

At some point Bill Cody took over afternoons on WHAS. Not sure if he replaced Burbank directly but Cody did afternoons until Terry Meiners took over. Cody is now mornings on WSM-AM. Gary Burbank's book indicated Jeff Douglas committed suicide. As far as video of the 1974 tornado, WHAS TV had posted a couple of files from that day they have been since removed. The simplistic coverage before the fancy graphics was a far cry from today.

A film titled, "Day of the Killer Tornadoes" was made about the April, 1974 tornado that began near Louisville then moved up to Cincinnati, to Dayton and finally to Xenia, Ohio. The film uses actual audio from radio stations including WHAS and WCKY in Cincinnati from that day. This film may be seen on YouTube

Jeff Douglas was my father. And yes he sadly died from suicide. Thank you for thinking of him.
