My grandmother, who helped raise my sister and I, faithfully watched the morning show with Ryan Halloran and Julie Shaw. I remember around the bicentennial, or shortly before, WAVE came to the 'City Park', now called the American Legion Park in E'town to broadcast their show live. My grandma took us there and we just played on the swings while she became a real groupie!

Ryan's name brings back some memories. While I didn't know him, I did know Joe Knight and his family. A good friend of mine was friends with his daughter Erin, and we all took several trips together in our mis-spent youth! Years later, I was the truck engineer the first 8 years of KY Oaks & Derby Shows for WAVE-TV, from 2001 until 2008. I got to know a lot of the WAVE family and still consider many of them friends. In fact, I did a show with Randy Waters (he called UK TV Basketball network games in the late 70's) in August 2010 here in Atlanta. Where does the time go?
