On another site that specializes in Top 40 Airchecks, they have a section set up for undedited airchecks that you can listen to or download. It is a "members only" type setup where you send a donation (via paypal or by mailing in a check) and then can access the complete airchecks. The money is used to cover the RIAA music fees and the greater bandwidth. I don't know how much trouble it would be to set up but that would be cool to do for us Louisville radio people who love to hear the way it used to be.

If you're talking about www.reelradio.com, you have to pay a yearly fee (a minimum of $12/year) to listen to ALL of their airchecks, whether they're scoped or unscoped. You also can't post on their message boards unless you've paid the fee. About 90% of the airchecks that have come to me for 79WAKY.com, 1080WKLO.com and LKYRadio.com are scoped skimmer tapes. So the amount of unscoped airchecks I have (so far) is a small minority. So far I haven't received the first cash donation for LKYRadio.com. But if anything comes in, I will consider using the money for RIAA fees for unscoped airchecks after other expenses are paid. BTW, when editing unscoped airchecks I leave in all commercials and newscasts...so you get more of a taste of what Louisville radio sounded like.

Update on the above post: This morning we received our first LKYRadio.com monetary donation.
A great big thank you to Rip Rinehart for helping to keep Kentucky radio history alive!
